Remembering all the sewing machine needles that have broken while in use, right in front of my face, I am thinking that I should be wearing better eye protection while I’m running it.
Usually a needle will break into two pieces: one end still held in the clamp, and the other still held by the thread running through the eye, but there have been times when pieces went flying.
I have experienced that. I have been learning to sew on an old Singer sewing machine a neighbor gave me when she got a spanking new Brother that looks like the controls of Star Ship Enterprise. I got tired of trying to find a seamstress to hem pants, repair a larger seam failure, I can sew on a button and fix small tears, but larger projects was out of my hands until now. I am 62 years old old fart and I can learn new tricks.
